This is Part 2 of my Final Project for my Photoshop class. It's a picture of Rincewind. I wanted to do a collage of one of the sub series in the disc world series and I was trying to decide while flipping through the pages of The Art of Discworld and I came upon the picture of Rincewind's collage of The Last Continent.
Now, it was already one of my favorite pictures. I think of it as bit of an inside joke from Paul Kirby to all of Terry Pratchett's fans. Rincewind has such a determined look, that one may see him as a man on a mission, but only the readers know that the mission is to run the hell away as fast as he can. My original plan was to have the Discworld in the background Rincewind in the Foreground and pictures of a few of his "friends" around him slightly faded out. But upon closer inspection of the Rincewind Collage, except for the background, that's what Paul Kirby did. So, I decided to take the main item from the cover of all of Rincewind's books, 'cept for Lost Hero, and have the colors of the books radiate out towards Rincewind. That was harder then it sounds. The best I could do was create circles around each item and use a color to transparency gradient effect to kinda mimic the effect. And the Birdcage from "Eric" didn't clean up well at all. So, once I learn how to do those two things I'm probably gonna tweak this image. The images I scanned from The Art of Discworld were gorgeous, unfortunately it scanned them in at such a size that to view them in entirety you had to zoom out to 25% on most monitors. But, the detail was just too good for me to resize it, you could even tell the paint strokes through the patterns of the industrial printer. So, I left it as is for my final project. But I did reduce the size to 50% of it's former to post on Deviant Art. The Picture of the Discworld and the Great A'Tuin came from The Art of Discworld, pictures done by Paul Kirby, excerpts done by Terry Pratchett and Paul Kirby. The Images from the books came for Terry Pratchett's site, [link] |
